Dear All,
You may have heard
about me being collared by the OFA KL-Selangor with
the task of coming out with a coffee table book on the history and
achievemennts of the school. This is because our lesser rivals seem to
be able to cough out a book as soon as they reach a hundred years old
like MCKK, Malacca High School and even Clfford in Taiping and
Methodist Boys(Afternoon) School in KL. We still have not figured out
why PFS have yet to do it but the 200 anniversary is as good as any. So
I shall be calling on you all at some point in time to help and the
baby boomers period variously classified as the year 1946 - 2006
or 2011 depending in which part of the world provides for a rich part
of history. So think back and locate old your old memories, as I have
been doing the past couple of weeks since first approached and you will
find gems in your archives if you have not thrown them away. I will
come round to you all in time and see what we can potray of our years
in school and how we have been able to contribute in our lifetime.
50 Anniversarry
As to the 50th Anniversary Gathering I think it is time we put some
thoughts in how we want to amke it a memorable outing. It can spread
over a number of days or it can be a meeting outside the country and
then a visit to school or even create a foundation in our name to
benefit the school/students.
If enough people are prepared to I would suggest that we all go to
Beijing where Khai Choon can arrange for a memorable gathering with the
facilities at his disposal. And I would suggest that we do it in the
month of November of 2013 which basically was the month where we
all last sat in our classrooms before dispersing for the exams. We can
work out the programme and itinerary as we go along to include all
activities we want and can muster. We use this website for the forum
and Peter Ho and Eng Keat and Theng Kin can cordinate with all while I
will cover from here. The 6th Formers can join in and this basically
cover only the girls and some Chung Ling boys and one or two others
from other schools.
Beijing
Why Beijing? We have a ready resort facility
and the ability to make
specific arrangements through Khai Choon. Unless he tells me there is a
better place he can arrange. Australia is out for many reasons
including costs and our ability to dictate what we want to do including
food for the muslim classmates and spouses who will be attending.
Having tried the accomodations and the food I can assure you you will
appreciate the hospitality provided by Khai Choon's organisation.
It is slightly more expensive than an organised tour but the space,
pace, and care you are provided make the stay ever so pleasant and
rewarding. No hurry, do what you want, go where you want and eat and
see what you want and at your own time. So think about this as I think
this will surely beat any luxury cruise. Come back through this
webpage with your thoughts and pester Peter Ho those of you in
contact with him otherwise you have my email address as above,
Many thanks and lets keep ourselves fighting fit for our 50th
Anniversary and then the Bi_Centenary.
